The family of CAPT Wayne Tyler Newton has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.
 
CAPT Newton served 38 years in the US Navy.  He proudly and honorably served in Vietnam and in the Global War on Terror in both Afghanistan and Iraq.  He also served in Operation Noble Eagle, a military operation related to homeland security and support to federal, state and local agencies.  The operation began September 14, 2001 in response to the September 11 attacks on America.
 
While in the Navy CAPT Newton furthered his education by earning a Master of Business Administration degree in Quantitative Analysis from National University and completed his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1984 from National University School of Law.  Wayne practiced law and was a member of the State Bar of California.
 
For his service he was awarded the following:  National Defense Service Medal (3), Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Navy Commendation Medal (2), Navy “E” Ribbon, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Expert Rifleman Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” & Silver Hourglass Devices, Navy & Marine Corps Overseas Ribbon, Expert Pistol Shot Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation with “O” Device, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Citation, Coast Guard Commendation, Navy Achievement Medal (2),  Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Coast Guard Commendation with “O” Device.  His last duty assignment and major command was Naval Coastal Warfare Group 1, San Diego.
 
In civilian life Wayne was a member of and loved to ride with the Antique Motorcycle Club.   Members of the club will be joining the procession to the cemetery.
 
NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero from the mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.
